If you are anything like me, well the Holidays can be difficult when you have food intolerances and everything is laden with the things that worsen your health.

The # 1 culprit being sugar!

Aside from the holidays, I typically do really well with fighting the Sugar Demons. (This is my #1 savoir from sugar right here!)

But I have not been so diligent over the holidays and both my gut and body reacted!

It did not take long for chronic inflammation , gas, bloating and severe abdominal discomfort to take over.

I did not want chemical laden products from the pharmacy, I wanted to treat my health issues naturally and started by introducing a natural , homeopathic remedy to start healing my inflamed gut

I also started to cut out the foods that I knew were causing the problems and started to replace them with anti inflammatory options like chamomile, tumeric, green tea , cocoa, macadamia nuts, pineapple and bone broth. ( Just to name a few … )

  1. I make a herbal concentrate that I add to my drinks throughout the day. Boil 11/2 – 2 lb finely sliced fresh ginger root in about 2 gallons of water for 35-40 minutes. Add a selection of herbs from the garden – say, rosemary, oregano, cilantro and parsley… usually 4 herbs. Boil 10 minutes. Allow to sit for a couple of hours. While still warm sieve the herbs out of the liquid. Then add 2 cups apple cider vinegar and honey to the liquid… adjust amounts to suit your taste. Store in jugs in fridge and mix with no calorie/low calorie drinks on ratio of about 1:5.

  2. I can totally relate. I am a 5-year colon cancer survivor and all the surgeries and chemo did a number on my gut. Slowly but surely I started reintroducing gut healthy foods like fermented stuff and high fiber veggies and whole grains and things are better now. Next step, ditching added sugar which I’m writing about in my recent blog. Happy New Year!

  3. Perfectly timed post as I’m suffering from a few of these symptoms as a result of a couple of antibiotics and a sensitivity to dairy. Another thing I’ve found helpful is kombucha.
